BCF News Fly-In and Cookout BCF sponsors a fly-in and cookout on the first Saturday of each month. If you’re interested in ultralights, LSA’s, and flying in general, fly in or drive in and meet our pilots and friends. So far, thanks to the tenacity of Clyde and Jim O’Donnell, we’ve never cancelled a scheduled cookout. August 6 Fly-in and Cookout The August 6th fly-in was another success; good food, enjoyable company, good weather, and an excuse to fly somewhere. We welcome our repeat and first time visitors. The next cookout is scheduled for September 3rd. Come on out. Fellowship Center Improvements We continue to enjoy the fellowship center with continued thanks to Fred, Clyde, Jim, and David O'Donnell for their hard and good work. The O'Donnells contuine to make BCF a great place to visit. Segmented Circle and Windsock If you arrive in a plane, take note of the windsock in the open area south of the hangers. The windsock pole is white with black stripes. Please avoid taxiing into it.
BCF pilots: If you plan to fly out of BCF and stay overnight elsewhere, please let someone at the flightpark know that you don’t plan to return. Otherwise, if someone notices that you haven’t returned, the Sheriff’s Office will be notified that you are missing and that you potentially are in trouble. The Sheriff’s Office will begin trying to locate you. If you are unable to return to the flightpark, but you are safe elsewhere, please call Clyde, Roy, or Julian and let us know. If you’re safe and you don’t let someone know, you get to explain to the Sheriff’s Office why their time was wasted. A whiteboard has been placed in the operations area for you to write the date, your name, departure time, destination, expected return time, and a number to be called in case of an emergency. If you actually have trouble and end up trapped beneath your up-ended plane in the middle of Cone Ranch, for example, having the Sheriff’s Office looking for you is a good thing. Smoother Runway Several loads of fill dirt have been brought in to level the centerline of the runway. The grass has filled in nicely, making it somewhat difficult to discern the smoothest path for departure. Hint: The smoothest path is aligned with the citrus tree at the north end of the runway.Alcohol-free Fuel Is Available at BCF We have alcohol-free (90+ octane ) fuel available at BCF.Hangers Are Available at BCF Among the worst enemies of your ultralight, LSA, or GA aircraft are sunshine, rain, and hail. If you’d like to get yours under a hanger, come out to Blackwater and check ours out.
